Why Postcards?

When it comes to direct mail marketing, I highly recommend postcard campaigns!  They’re simple, inexpensive and stand out in the mail. 

How many times have you thrown away a pile of junk envelopes?  But before the postcards can be sorted, it’s too late!  You’ve already received the message!

The truth is, direct mail “campaigns” are much more effective than a single mailing for exactly this reason - the hugely popular Junk Mail Toss

Studies show that the average consumer must see a message 5-7 times before taking action.  This means your prospects may glance and toss your postcards 4-6 times before stopping to truly pay attention! 

You will always be better off reaching less prospects more often, than tons of prospects only once.  As such, postcards have the following strong benefits:

  • Stand out in the mail
  • Easy to accidentally read
  • No envelope barrier
  • Inexpensive to create (compared to self-mailers, brochures, catalogs etc.)
  • Save money on postage

  1. I couldn’t agree more. I think postcards can stand out if they are done correctly. We had personalization to each postcard including their name and personal url like mysite.com/jim.rogers.html - it really gets their attention. When they visit the landing page we have a personal audio message or video waiting for them.

  2. Thanks for your input, Jim! Like you say, personalization makes a huge impact in marketing. Whether it’s direct mail, email campaigns or products there’s nothing as effective at grabbing our prospects’ attention.

    The great thing is that personalization can now be done easily and automatically through numerous websites.
